Brit Pop

Brit Pop began in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s with groups like the Stone Roses, the Charlatans UK and later Lush. It began to flourish in the mid ‘90s with the success of bands such as Blur, Oasis and Pulp. Brit pop is guitar-based, but it ranges from the Disco-Funk of the Stone Roses to the Beatles-wannabe Rock of Oasis. Brit Pop is defined more by its reliance on "rock star" attitude and image, and its disinterest in US chart success, than by a particular sound.
